Patrick Kain - Our Mouser....

Four years ago.....come April..
she arrived...quite by surprise.
A little bit of heaven...
with her bright and sparkling eyes.

Soon after we were married...
we talked of two or three.
But, after she arrived here...
one seemed just right to me.

But, how could we refuse her?
We couldn't take her back.
So tiny...and so helpless...
for love, she never lacked.

We took our turn to feed her....
such wee hours of the night.
At times, we found her messy...
that, a most depressing sight!

But, the months passed, oh, so, quickly...
and new teeth...would soon appear.
The infant traits...were leaving...
why, in just her second year.

She impressed both friends and family,
in ways so cute and smart.
And, few could ever hold her...
and not give up their heart.

But, alas, one day we found her...
she'd been crawling 'round the house.
To our surprise.......and horror...
she was playing with a mouse!

We asked......'Can we correct this?
Should we send her off to bed? '
Perhaps, a stern correcting word,
is all...that must be said.

We all were in a quandry....
perhaps, we'd call a cop!
This thing she has with rodents...
somehow, it's gotta stop! !

Well, the years, they passed so quickly...
first was three....and then, came four.
The offensive trait continued....
with a hundred mice...or more! !

But, I guess we've sorta mellowed...
and, ....she's better than a cat.
And, catching mice....her pedigree...
Rat Terriers do....just that!
