Restless eyes give way to the morning sun
I rise to make the morning brew
Quietly I sit on the edge till it is done
Watching your chest rise and fall, just watching you
My heart overflowing with love

A soft rumble is heard
I am reminded of a distant train
A small laugh I hold inside, I say not a word
And a smile I gain

I kneel beside the bed and whisper
Thank you Father
For my life, for his nightly purr
For the morning sun
And for giving me a someone to love

A stronger rumble than before
I laugh a little deeper inside
And thank you for all his imperfections, all of them to the core
For there is no place I would rather be… than here by his side
