I walked many a year in a field of roses seeing only the thorns
Forgetting to look at the one that lingered through all seasons
I never thought of taking the bull by its horns
Numerous times I passed all reasons

Long and many a year passed and I never thought…
You could be the one to open my eyes
My heart closed and overwrought
With past promises and lies

Blessed, I see a rose that has never faded
That remained through many a storm
Outside the window of my soul, sweet love’s serenaded
Old eyes now completely transformed

Ever so patient until I realized…. It was you
My love who has given me new sight
The rose I had walked by…. that remained true
Now lies within my heart and beside me every night
