Parties differ on Lokpal Bill

Political parties hold divergent views on the issue of the Lokpal Bill that Anna Hazare is agitating for: The Congress feels Parliament has the sole prerogative over legislation. The BJP on the other thinks Parliament is supreme but government's recently drafted Bill is inadequate. The CPM says Parliament's got the right to legislate, but government's version of the Bill is ineffective. The CPI says that Bill-making is Parliament's prerogative, but Lokpal Bill needs improvision. Mayawati-led BSP believes Parliament is supreme, but government must draft effective Bill after talks. The Samajwadi Party too feels Parliament alone can legislate. The AIADMK argues that while the Constitution can't be subverted, the Lokpal Bill is inadequate. The DMK says Anna can be allowed to dictate terms to Parliament.
