Paramilitaries Main Threat to Colombia Peace Process

A report by Colombian social organizations indicates that the FARC has fully complied with their unilateral ceasefire in the one month since it was decreed on September 20. The army, in turn, has reduced its offensive actions but has also seized additional territory, which could lead to confrontations with the rebels. The report notes a resurgence in 5 states of paramilitary activity -often with the complicity of the army- which it characterizes as the main and greatest threat to the peace process.
