Paramedic testifies in Conrad Murray case
Description
Day four of the trail of Michael Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray, who faces charges of involuntary manslaughter.
The Jackson family arrives at the Los Angeles Courthouse.
Taking the stand is Michael Senneff, a paramedic who was called to the scene and questioned by prosecutor Deborah Brazil.
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"Did you look at the reading on the EKG machine once it was hooked up to Mr. Jackson's chest?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"Yes, I did."
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"What did you see on the screen?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"A sisa lee"
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"What does that mean?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"Flatline."
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"The machine, the EKG machine, is it a portable machine? You obviously carried it up to the bedroom with you, set it down, hooked it up to Mr. Jackson and got a reading."
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"Yes."
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"Did you ask Dr. Murray whether or not the patient was taking any medications or had been given any medications?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"Yes, I did."
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"Did Dr. Murray provide you with an answer?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"Yes."
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"Did he provide you with an answer right off the bat when you first got in and asked that question?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"No, I asked a couple of different times."
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"Specifically regarding medications?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"Yes."
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"And,. he initially didn't provide you with any information regarding medications?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"What I said initially of course was what is his underlying condition and then when I didn't get what I felt was a satisfactory answer, I explained to him, the reason I am asking is because I see an underweight patient, I see an IV here and I see medication vials on the nightstand."
SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Deborah Brazil, saying: (English):
"In response to your questioning repeatedly regarding medications, did Dr. Murray provide you with information concerning medications?"
SOUNDBITE: Paramedic Michael Senneff, saying: (English):
"At that point, he said no, he is not taking anything, and then he followed that up with I just gave him a little bit of Losradpath"
Prosecutors are seeking to prove that Murray failed to properly monitor Jackson after giving him a dose of the surgical anesthetic propofol as a sleep aid.
Murray admits administering the drug but denies involuntary manslaughter. His lawyers have argued that Jackson caused his own death by giving himself an extra dose of propofol, mixed with prescription sedatives, without Murray's knowledge.
If convicted, Murray faces up to four years in prison.
