Panda cub's name revealed
Description
After weeks of anticipation- the name of the female giant panda cub in Washington DC is revealed.
Bao Bao- which means precious in English- was chosen from an online vote of more than 123,000 submissions.
The cub was born at the Smithsonian National Zoo in August during a live broadcast on the zoo's 'panda cam'.
While mom and baby snuggled for the public, Bao Bao's father was served an ice treat to celebrate the occasion.
Bao Bao won't make her public debut until she is old enough to leave the den. Zoo officials say that will probably be sometime early next year.
