Nearly 4, 500 cases of dengue fever have been reported in the Punjab province of Pakistan in the past two months.
At least 12 people have lost their lives to the mosquito-borne disease and health officials say it's spreading.
Poor hygiene and heavy monsoon rains are providing the ideal breeding grounds for the mosquitos.
The government says it's launched a fumigation drive.
In the provincial capital, Lahore, where most of the cases have emerged, residents are sceptical.
SOUNDBITE: Liaquat Ali, whose family members are among the patients with dengue fever, saying (Urdu):
"Our family has four houses. Everyone in these houses has fever. My two sons and my husband have to receive platelets today. No-one is bothered about us. What spray? We've seen no spray."
It's feared the death toll will rise.
Sri Lanka says it's sending a team to help fight the disease.
Media reports say India is also helping out.
The outbreak is a further blow to Pakistan, already struggling to cope with floods in the south which have killed at least 226 people.
At least 1.2 million homes have been destroyed or damaged and 1.8 million hectares of land submerged since late August.
Pakistan's unpopular government is under pressure to provide relief for about 300,000 people left homeless by the floods.
