When you view the mask from the 'hollow' side, the face still seems to be sticking out towards you - the human brain just cannot compute a hollow face! As the camera moves left or right, the face seems to swivel, and follow you. And if the camera moves up and down, again, the face tilts, to follow you. Amazing. And even more realistic in real life!
