Description

When Georgie's Grandmamma was told
That Georgie had been as good as gold,
She promised in the afternoon
To buy him a new war BALLOON.

And so she did; but when it came,
It got into the oiled flame,
And being of a dangerous sort
Exploded with a loud report!

All lights went out! All windows broke!
Iraq was filled with reeking smoke.
And dreadful shrieks - but - worst of all,
The people there began to brawl!

Some set off bombs, the country blazed.
Some fled their homes, which then were razed,
But Georgie lad, he seemed unfazed.

For he had knelt and he had prayed
Then heard god say, be not afraid...
For you must launch a new crusade.

The war raged on and many died
Sad cargoes soon arrived stateside
But Georgie, who was in part to blame,
Stayed, mostly truly, just the same;
He did receive, so sad to hear,
A nasty lump behind the ear.
