'Pacman' ready for title fight showdown

Despite recent concerns over his focus, world champion boxer Manny Pacquiao claims he is ready for his title bout with Antonio Margarito.

"That's what we're trying to do is give a good fight and to make people happy," said the boxer, also known as 'Pacman'.

The Filipino, who is known for being heavily involved non-boxing activities, will take on Mexico's Margarito on Saturday at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas for the vacant WBA super welterweight belt.

Pacquiao, besides being a champion boxer, is an actor and singer, and arguably the most famous person in the Philippines. He added to an already busy schedule earlier this year when he was elected to Congress in his home country.

The Pacquiao camp questioned their fighter's dedication to boxing in recent weeks following a training camp that was more chaotic than usual. However, according to trainer Freddie Roach, since the boxer moved to his Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, things returned to normal in preparation for Saturday's bout.

The question remains whether Pacquiao, who is fighting up a weight class, will be able to handle the 'Tijuana Tornado'.

"This is my first fight in super-welterweight, and you know it's hard to gain weight. I mean I'm trying to put more weight, but I'm too slow, so I decided to stay at welterweight to make it fast," explained Pacquiao.

"We have our different styles and techniques [that] we apply to this fight: we focus on speed. And we study hard on his advantage, like reach advantage, and he's taller than me."
