Communing in the corners
Under chairs and desks where the neglect remains
Vagabonding cross windows with the light to guide your way
It’s the stillness that’s your solace
In the quiet you find your place
Among the books and sentimental objects
Clinging to scenes from yesterday
I know you dream in idle patience as the evidence rolls cross the floor
You shape your numbers into small furry beasts
In the hopes of eliciting havoc,
But even this is often ignored
Among you there are those that boast of the grandeur of a storm
With the wind they rode in mass
Laid waste to creatures, blocked out the sun
They talk in terms of desolation
Their voices cracking on annihilate
It seems they lose a moment inside
Not sure just how they found this place
Yet when it’s time to shape the ears
The faithful set clinging for another roll
These same sit scoffing from their shelves
Their words more shame then critical quarrel
But with each puff of wind, with each stir of space
You cast your sight beyond the sill
You imagine rising up
To fill the room beyond its height, beyond the Living Room Door
Across whatever lies
To matter once, to settle scores
But then your salvation never arrives
Seems there’s only enough for a tumble or two
So back and forth from in and out of the shadows
That wisp of wind is all that’s left for you

But, maybe what you have should be enough
Success may breed on that little wind that blows today
Because a wind that blows on all accounts
Is better than a wind that sucks you away
