Outrage over carnage in Syria
Description
Carnage in Syria.
Amateur video out of Syria which could not be independently verified by Reuters appears to show U.N. monitors in Houla just outside of Homs.
They are shown a room filled with bodies. Activists say more than 90 people were killed in a barrage of artillery Friday, many were children. It is the worst violence witnessed in Syria since a UN peace plan was put in motion some six weeks ago.
In Damascus the chief of the UN monitoring mission, General Robert Mood calls for an end to the violence.

"The death of 32 innocent children, lots of women and men, but in particular the children, that is unacceptable attack on the future and on the aspirations of the Syrian people. Whomever started, whomever responded, whomever contributed to it"
Kofi Annan's six-week old ceasefire plan has failed to stop the violence. The United Nations is now nearing full deployment of a 300-strong unarmed observer force meant to monitor the truce.
In Istanbul, Turkey, the Syrian National Council condemns the attack.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) MEMBER OF SYRIAN NATIONAL COUNCIL LOAI SAFI SAYING:
"We have condemned it. We are asking the world to take responsibility for protecting civilians. The world cannot keep watching these brutality, these massacres happening in Syria. It has to stop it."
The reports of the attack underlines how far Syria is from any negotiated path out of the 14-month-old revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.
