Out in force in Syria
Description
Amateur video out of Syria appears to shows tens of thousands of people at a funeral in Homs.
The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters, comes as Arab league monitors toured the city which has become a flashpoint of resistance to President Bashar- al Assad.
The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told Reuters that at least 70,000 protesters were marching towards the city center.
More footage purportedly from Baba Amr shows a massive rally of people calling for an end to President Bashar al Assad's regime. They are calling for a no flay zone over Syria.
The United Nations says that 5,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began in March.
The Syrian government blames the violence on what it calls foreign backed terrorist groups.
Streets scenes from Baba Amr -- cars passing shuttered buildings amid the sound of gunfire.
Syria's State New agency is reporting a gas pipeline explosion in Rastan. The agency is blaming an "armed terrorist group" for the attack.
Syria has banned most independent media from the country making it difficult to verify accounts from activists or the government.
