Oscar's ball gets menu makeover

The menu for the official Oscars after-party gets the red carpet treatment.

The annual post-ceremony Governors Ball is switching from formal dining to a more lounge-like experience with 50 different dishes prepared by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck.

SOUNDBITE: Wolfgang Puck, celebrity chef, saying (English):

"When people are going to come out of the theater, generally they are really hungry and we give them little mini Kobe burgers, smoked salmon Oscars, some of our classic little hors d'oeuvres and then when they sit down on the comfortable couch or on a comfortable little chair, we're going to pass potatoes with caviar, risotto with black truffles, Chinoise lamb chops, lobster with basmati rice, crispy spinach and ginger. We're going to have braised shortribs, we're going to have crab and lobster louie salad. So you're going to have 12 different main courses you can choose from or eat all of them if you want to. It's really like a Japanese kaiseki dinner."

This will be Puck's 18th year creating the menu for the party, where more than 1,500 guests from the Oscar ceremony will mingle before heading off to various parties around Los Angeles.

Puck says he always likes feeding a hungry crowd.

"You are only on a diet two weeks before the Academy Awards. Once the ceremony is over, everybody is hungry and hunger make every chef look good. And I think it's really a lot of fun to see these people really eat!"

The Governors Ball will welcome Hollywood's A-list immediately after the Oscars are handed out on February 26.
