Operation Python takes place deep in the jungle, monitored on screen from a tree-house!

An Assamese man carries Exide xpress batteries up a steep ladder to a tree house in Manas National Park, Assam. Carrying a large and heavy battery up seems much easier than it really is... The MMES - Wildlife Trust of India team get ready to monitor the imminently hatching python eggs at Manas National Park, even as the team atop the machan or tree-house avidly follows the developments inside the python nest, on a monitor atop the tree!

Manas National Park or Manas Wildlife Sanctuary is a National Park, UNESCO Natural World Heritage site, a Project Tiger Reserve, an Elephant Reserve and a Biosphere Reserve in Assam, India. Located in the Himalayan foothills, it is contiguous with the Royal Manas National Pak in Bhutan. The park is known for its rare and endangered endemic wildlife such as the Assam Roofed Turtle, Hispid Hare, Golden Langur and Pygmy Hog. Manas is famous for its population of the Wild water buffalo.
