OpenAI Taps Google Cloud As It Broadens Infrastructure Beyond Microsoft
Description
OpenAI has added Google Cloud to its list of infrastructure providers, expanding beyond Microsoft to meet surging demand for computing power, according to its updated supplier list. The company also uses cloud services from Microsoft, Oracle, and CoreWeave. The deal highlights the growing demand for AI compute and OpenAI’s efforts to reduce its reliance on Microsoft by diversifying its infrastructure sources. Earlier this year, OpenAI partnered with SoftBank and Oracle on the $500 billion Stargate project and signed multi-billion-dollar deals with CoreWeave to expand computing power. The Google partnership is OpenAI’s latest step in reducing its reliance on Microsoft, which had previously provided its cloud infrastructure exclusively until January.
