OMCs to decide fuel prices

Even as the Government has increased the LPG cylinder limit for a family from 6 to 9, Diesel prices are poised for a hike. With the Cabinet stating that the oil marketing companies will decide the diesel prices. However, the Petroleum minister also says the price correction will be small. As NewsX has been telling you, the UPA government is hard-pressed to raise prices to cut its massive fiscal deficit. But with the General elections looming large, it wants to avoid doing it during the budget, that will have to contain populist measures to please its allies.
