Oil Prices Climbing
Description
Oil prices rose almost $1 on Wednesday as industry data indicated a larger-than-expected drawdown in U.S. crude inventories. Plus, the International Energy Agency expects demand to increase as vaccination mandates and rollouts expand. Brent oil rose 92 cents, and West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 98 cents. Additionally, U.S. crude oil, distillate, and gasoline stocks fell by 5.4 million barrels last week after Hurricane Ida affected several refineries and offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. Analysts believe the oil industry may not recover until after Tropical Storm Nicholas passes through the region.
