Ths President and First Lady observed a moment of silence and lit candles at the White House in honor of those lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, on the first anniversary of the <a class="link" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://storyful.com/pro#tab=1&vs=%22sandy%20hook%22">school shooting</a>, on December 14. The ceremony took place less than 24 hours after another school shooting in <a class="link" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://storyful.com/pro#tab=1&vs=Arapahoe">Arapahoe, Colorado</a>.
