Obama, Xi reach landmark climate pact

US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping announced plans to cut their respective emissions in an unprecedented joint climate pact in Beijing Wednesday.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT, BARACK OBAMA, SAYING:
"Today I can also announce that the United States has set a new goal of reducing our net greenhouse gas emissions by 26-28 percent below 2005 levels by the year 2025. This is an ambitious goal but it is an achievable goal
The two also commented on the ongoing pro democracy demonstrations in Hong Kong - President Obama said the US supports the right of free expression, but President Xi called the protests illegal.
