Obama 'pardons' Thanksgiving turkey

US resident are to mark the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Barack Obama, the president, has honoured the occasion by pardoning a turkey.

A rather important decision.

But Obama faces more difficult challenges.

There is a host of issues, including funding for government tax cuts, and an arms reduction treaty with Russia.
