Obama declares OK major disaster

President Obama has declared a major disaster in Oklahoma after a deadly tornado hit a suburb of Oklahoma City Monday afternoon.

The president spoke with Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin by phone Monday night.

Federal aid in the form of temporary housing, and home repairs will supplement state and local recovery efforts.

The devastating and massive twister that struck about 3pm local time has killed at least 51 people... including 20 children.

Dozens more children are believed to be trapped inside an elementary school that was leveled.

Hospital officials say of the 230 or so injures, at least 45 are believed to be children.

A temporary triage has been set up at a local movie theatre as some medical centers are also dealing with damages.
