The child psychologist Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) embraces with dedication the case of Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment). The boy, age 8, has difficulties of belonging at school and lives paralyzed with fear. Malcolm, in turn, seeks to recover from a trauma suffered years earlier, when one of his patients committed suicide in front.
