Description

New Zealand search teams found missing climbers Hiroki Ogawa and Nicole Sutton after two nights in a snow cave on Mount Taranaki.

Ogawa was dead, Sutton died later.

Sutton's father said there were worse ways to go.

(SOUNDBITE)(English) KEITH SUTTON, FATHER OF DEAD CLIMBER NICOLE SUTTON, SAYING:

"They were doing what they loved and it came to this end. Other people die in much more unpleasant circumstances than this."

Searchers tried several times to reach the pair.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) TARANAKI ALPINE RESCUE WORKER, MIKE JOHNS, SAYING:

"I was up there Saturday night and we got within 200 metres (220 yards) of them and had to turn back, a lot of the other teams were the same so you feel frustrated that you couldn't quite get there but at the end of the day it's survival."

The alarm was raised on Saturday but it took until Monday to find the missing climbers.
