Nvidia Rolls Robotics Developer Kit As Chipmaker Targets AI-Powered Robots, Self-Driving
Description
Nvidia launched its latest robotics chip module, the Jetson AGX Thor, on Monday at $3,499 as a developer kit, according to CNBC. The chipmaker's “robot brain" will ship developer kits next month for customers building robots. After prototyping, companies can buy Thor T5000 modules for production-ready robots. The Jetson Thor chips use Nvidia’s Blackwell graphics processor and are 7.5 times faster than the prior generation. Equipped with 128GB of memory, they can run large generative AI models crucial for humanoid robots. Robotics makes up only about 1% of Nvidia’s revenue, though the segment has been expanding steadily since 2014. The combined automotive and robotics unit posted $567 million in May quarterly sales, up 72%
