Novelty Fly Swat

A most unusual fly swat! It is really a pair of spring loaded fly swats, connect to a kind of gun. When you 'load' the swat, the internal spring is extended, and the two fly swats move apart. When you pull the trigger, and two fly swats move together very fast, and hit each other with a satisfying smack.

If you have managed to swat your fly, you can then open up the fly swat, and see how well you did. One of the fly swats has a target on it, and obviously the idea is to get the squashed fly as close to the centre of the target as possible.

We suspect this is more of a novelty than a useful fly swat, since the target is a solid piece of plastic, and the fly is likely to be able to escape. The principle behind a normal fly swat is that because it is a mesh filled with holes, it does not generate too much of a 'bow wave' in the air, which presumably warns the fly that an object is approaching. The holes in a regular fly swat allow it to function in 'stealth mode' and not warn the fly. But the target would seem to make it hard for the stealth mode to work, since it is solid.

We have not actually tried it, so cannot say what score we got!
