Description

Grey bags bursting with purpose
drift inpatiently above.

I have a roof
Sometimes steam seeps
from the cracks of the
battered tiles.

Yet it keeps me dry
I should not worry myself
with the troubles in the sky.

Think myself lucky
I am not having to search streets
for shelter.
Nor smell just cooked bread
or fresh Italian coffee spilling
out of a happy coffee shop.
I do not have to ignore the
chuckling cash machines.
Nor sell my smile to a priest
for one night of warmth.

I have a televesion
It's silver and is rather large.
I have a private place to deposit
my waste.
I can be God and change the climate
Cold- click- warmth
feel a little drowsy
a little to the left and feel at ease.

I have sheilds to deflect the rain
I can watch my enemy
collide against my protector
and watch it
Defeated
dripping onto the streets below.

I have a million and one things
to be thankful for
Yet when the zip is pulled
and the pummelling pavement
pleads forgivness
I feel stripped
Naked and exposed
in a field of a million laughing women.
