Not Long Left - seeing it as it is

high in the sky,
the birds fly,
looking down at the world.
deep down
underground,
the sound of
the world above
destroys
the natural choirs
of purity.
on the ground,
i stand,
lost in thoughtless
despair,
i have not moved
in 24 years.
