North Korea appears to begin testing experimental reactor despite denuclearization push
6 Views • Mar 29, 2018
Description
Satellite imagery taken last month suggests North Korea may have started testing of an experimental light water reactor-- and possibly brought another reactor online at its Yongbyon Nuclear Research Center.
Both can be used to produce the fissile materials needed for nuclear bombs.
And according to a recent analysis in Jane's Intelligence Review, a monthly journal on global security issues,... a testing program is underway at the experimental reactor,... meaning it could become operational with little warning later this year or in 2019.
A separate report by the Japanese daily Asahi Shimbun says two of the four battalions at the North's 19th Regiment stationed near the Punggye-ri nuclear test site were ordered to relocate earlier this month.
