Description

Lit up
Let’s roll down these windows
Windows of meaningless tangles
Brought forth in life
Pain and misery
That’s what we all write
But what about the other
Musings on life’s loves not lost
A beautiful and thoughtful wife
A quickly growing boy
From child into man
Or the soft soothing snores of a daughter left alone sleeping
Not these things
Far from the sweat tear stained angst of youth
But
None-the-less
Full of gravity and thought
Heart and emotion
It’s the warm cup of tea I am drinking
Filling and soothing
Not my life
But my soul
The core to who I am
Not really who I was
In the endless nights
Bars and guitars
And what passed for fun and good times
Really
A well sold package of lies
Leading to some kind of downfall
Or plane out of town
And to this piece of life
Where I don’t have to worry about it anymore
The next thrill
Next memory to put behind me
Somewhere it all turned
The lights and noise
Mostly in my own head
Driving me away
Chasing me away
To the life I have now
The life that I am now
And asked if
That upon further review
(as a football loving friend would put it)
I might like to go back
To all that was
All that could have been
I am too lost
Lost to the silence of my house
Lost to the silence of love quietly sleeping in other rooms.
