PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS MATERIAL THAT WAS ORIGINALLY 4:3
Afghan officials have given up hope of finding any survivors among more than 2, 100 people missing since Friday's massive landslide.
A spokesman for the provincial governor on Saturday said all were dead.
Villagers and police with only basic digging tools resumed their search as daylight broke.
There's only one excavator at the scene so far.
The mud in some places is up to 100 metres deep.
(SOUNDBITE)(Dari) UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN SURVIVOR SAYING:
"Seven members of my family were here when the landslide happened. Four or five people were killed here but four or five are alive. I am also half alive, what can I do?"
There were fears too that the unstable hillside above the site of the disaster could cave in again.
The landslide that swamped Ab Barek village in Badakhshan province hit during Friday morning.
Hundreds of homes were destroyed.
Some 4, 000 are without shelt
