1 Views • Jul 30, 2016
Description
The 1,109-carat diamond, was uncovered last November in Botswana by Canadian mining company Lucara Diamond Corp, and had been expected to fetch more than $70 million (USD).
The diamond drew a bid of $61 million at the Sotheby's auction in London, but fell short of the reserve price.
The gem, whose name translates as "Our Light" in Botswana's Tswana language, is believed to be between 2.5 billion to more than three billion years old.
