Nicole Kidman Explains Her Awkward Oscars Clap

Phew! Nicole Kidman isn’t a robot person, alien, or a seal dressed as a human.

The actress made headlines during the 89th Annual Academy Awards for an extremely awkward clap that caught social media by storm.

Thankfully, Nicole got a chance to explain to the Kyle and Jackie O Show why she had such a strange method of applause… You can blame it on the Harry Winston rings she was wearing.

She tells the show, “It was really difficult because I had a huge ring on that was not my own… It was absolutely gorgeous, and I was terrified of damaging it.”

We speculated that she didn’t want to damage her nails, but we didn’t even think of the very expensive, borrowed jewelry that is always adorned by guests at the Oscars.

Nicole also raised the question, what would be worse? Her awkward clap, orShe tells the show, “Gosh, I want to clap. I don’t want to not be clapping, which would be worse, right? Why isn’t Nicole clapping?”

But ultimately, she says, “Is there not more important things to be focused on than the seal clap?”
