Nick Sym - Poem To A Friend

I received a letter in the mail,
one of many I receive each day
I did not feel like opening it,
Well at least not right away

Then a little later in the day,
curiosity got the better of me
It was quite an unusual post,
And I wondered from who it could be

Reading the name from sender,
my eye’s started to well up with tears
It was from a very dear friend,
one of my communities peers

She had sent much needed food for Bally,
to get him big and strong
And if you think I’m a bit crazy,
Well you are not far from being wrong

Some people make promises and never come through,
but I knew she was not made that way
and that this simple letter,
made for a wonderful day.
