Nicholas Maddison - cancer

Cancer is a word to fear
It lingers in our thoughts
It brings fear to the ones we love
It’s the C word that scares us most

To those that live with it
We know not what to say
We watch and hope, for them we pray
Hoping for them that cured they will be

But this time it has traveled too far
And hopes fade each time we see
But still we cling for one last hope
That the pain when it comes will be quick to cease

We have seen it take your loved ones before
No mercy for us, it eats our friends away
They try to smile, to hide their pain
To save our grief we believe them
