NewsX : 'Callous' Sushil Kumar Shinde returns

NewsX: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has embarrassed the Government yet again. Even as Chhattisgarh was burning. Shinde, who had gone to the United states to attend a home land security meet, decided to stay back.

The insensitive act of discarding his duty of returning home and leading from the front, has drawn severe criticism. Shinde's act is reflective of a culture of irresponsibility and lack of accountability among senior politicians.

Shinde's sojourn to US had began on May 19. The Indo-US security meet took place on May 20-22. But despite the Chhattisgarh horror taking place on May 25, Shinde decided to stay put in U.S for reportedly private purposes.

Sources say he stayed back to visit close relatives of his wife in Maryland, returning at his convenience almost 4 days after the brutality had transpired. Even the official delegation, which accompanied the Home Minister had returned after 22 May.

Even as Congress is agog with Shinde's insensitive behaviour, the opposition has pinned Shinde of gross dereliction of duty. Even though Shinde's calender shows no official engagement, his decision to stay back has come to be drubbed as trampling the very oath of office that binds him to faithfully and conscientiously discharge his duties.
