KARACHI: At least four people were killed and 11 injured when a ‘speeding’ bus ran over people standing at a bus stop along an under-construction University Road, ARY News reported.

According to initial reports, a female student of the University of Karachi was also among the injured. The incident occurred near Baitul Mukarram mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, where people were awaiting at the bus stop when speeding public transport bus, bearing registration number PE-4042, ran over them.

Passers-by and pedestrians lost their calm after the accident that believed to have occurred due to negligence of bus driver.

Angry protesters staged sit-in at the University road demanding arrest of the bus driver.

Commuters face regular problems on the University since its repair work started a month ago. The University Road is being reconstructed with a cost of Rs 884 million; and it is expected to be completed by June this year.
