KARACHI: Deploring Altaf Hussain’s call for observing 14th August (Independence Day) as black day, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Dr Farooq Sattar on Thursday said that ‘Urdu speaking community’ has defied the founder MQM’s orders by celebrating the 70th independence day with great fervour.
In a press conference here, the MQM-P chief said that the party held flag-hoisting ceremonies at 400 different locations across the city.
He said that the community’s patriotism should not be put into question as Independence Day celebrations are evident of their defiance to Altaf Hussain’s call.
“The Urdu speaking community has boycotted the calls of observing black day on 14th August by London based MQM leader.”
Sattar asserted his party workers and supporters took part in the independence celebrations with great zeal across the province.
On the pictures that have been uploaded on social media, Sattar said no patriot member of Urdu speaking community hides face behind masks to carry out an inappropriate act.
Earlier today, Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), Mustafa Kamal said that the mission initiated by him and another party leader Anis Qaimkhani has been accomplished after MQM chief was exposed.
He hailed the Muhajir community of ‘breaking ties’ with the MQM led by London-based leader Altaf Hussain.
In a fresh criticism targeting London-based Mutahidda Qaumi Movement founder, he alleged that the self-exiled head of the party disrespected Pakistan on the Independence Day.
He said MQM affiliated social media accounts uploaded pictures related to 14 August that were in disrespect of the country. These activities were carried out in disguise “but we have come to know about faces behind it,” Mustafa Kamal said.
