ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the deadline for filing of nomination papers by election candidates for two hours.

In a statement, the Commission said nomination papers can now be filed till 6:00pm today. The preliminary list of candidates will also be published today.

According to the election schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers will continue till June 19 while appeals against rejection or acceptance of papers can be filed by 22nd of this month.

The appellate tribunals will decide the appeals by June 27 after which the revised list of candidates will be published on June 28.

Candidates can withdraw their papers by 29th of this month after which the final list of candidates will be published the same day.

Election symbols will be allotted to contesting candidates on June 30, while the polling for both national and provincial assembly seats will be held on 25th of next month.
