New Yorkers are safe- de Blasio
Description
Mayor Bill de Blasio said New Yorkers are safe from Ebola, even though the patient had travelled around the city on subways, taken a taxi and visited a bowling alley before reporting his symptoms.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW YORK CITY MAYOR BILL DE BLASIO SAYING:
"We want to state at the outset that there is no reason for New Yorkers to be alarmed."
The patient, 33 year old Craig Spencer, is in an insolation at Bellevue Hospital.
Spencer is a physician working for Doctors Without Borders and recently returned to New York after treating Ebola victims in West Africa.
Information is being given out to people near Spencer's apartment.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED MAN SAYING:
"Giving out information locally. It reassures us that we have it under control."
So far nearly 4,900 people, largely in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guin
