Striking Style and High Efficiency, Modest Price Increase and Minor Updates, New Toyota Prius 2024

Toyota added new badging, Integrated Release technology and a new locking and unlocking tone to the Prius for 2024, while also increasing its price by $200 across the lineup.

The handsome Toyota Prius is back for 2024, and it's virtually identical to the 2023 model except for a few minor changes and a $200 price increase across the range. It's not much of a surprise for the legendary hybrid that it's only on sale in its second year since its fifth-generation revision.

2024 prices start at $28,745 with the front-wheel-drive LE grade (all prices include $1,095 destination charge). That's a $200 increase over the 2023 model, which starts at $28,454.

Toyota has decided that it is happy with the equipment lineup being the same this year as 2023. These trims consist of LE, XLE and Limited trims, all of which are offered with front- or all-wheel drive. All available trim levels increase by $200 for the 2024 model year.

For that extra cash, buyers can expect a new "Beyond Zero" badge that Toyota says symbolizes the "global effort to move closer to a carbon-neutral future." It also gets a new Integrated Streaming feature that allows owners to connect their Apple Music and Amazon Music subscriptions to the car's infotainment system, allowing them to enjoy their songs on the go.

Additionally, the 2024 Prius comes with a new locking and unlocking sound. The tone created by sound engineers was designed to be "pleasant and distinct when indicating door locking and unlocking." The company says the audio volume can be adjusted in the infotainment system.

The Prius is available in six colors for 2024: Wind Chill Pearl, Cut Edge, Guardian Gray, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red and Reservoir Blue. Under the hood, the model's 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain continues for another year, delivering 194 hp (145 kW/197 PS) to the FWD model and 196 hp (146 kW/199 PS) to the AWD model.

Toyota says the 2024 Prius will arrive at dealerships in November. Prices for the plug-in hybrid Prius Prime have not been announced yet.
