Description
Most people in Kyrgyzstan have never thought about energy efficiency. Especially in poor rural regions with extreme temperature fluctuations, a lot of energy is wasted. But that is gradually changing.Energy seminars are being held to raise the energy-consciousness of people in Kyrgyz mountain villages. For example in the region of Issykköl, about 500 kilometers away from the capital, Bishkek. Participants learn to build ovens that are more energy efficient. And they profit from that knowledge, because the new ovens use substantially less dung and wood; and that saves money and CO2 emissions.
