New CEO for Lafarge-Holcim merger

The cement may not yet be dry on the merger between Lafarge and Holcim but the combined company has a new chief executive.

The board’s of the French and Swiss groups have appointed Eric Olsen as the man to lead the combined entity.

The post was a key sticking point as the two cement makers sought to save their merger last month after the Swiss side sought to renegotiate the terms and remove the current CEO of Lafarge.

Some doubts still surround the potential merger with one media outlet quoting analysts Vontobel saying the chances of the deal getting shareholder approval are just 50 percent.
