The story begins in the autumn of 2005 as our heroes return from their various summer travels. As a three piece with ciaran drumming, brian singing & bassing, and darragh guitaring they bashed out some distinctly average songs and had to resist severe pressure not to sell out and licence their hits to the O.C. When they manage to coax an old friend into the fold it appears that they have finally found a competant drummer who is also relatively sane, a rarity among the available drummers of dublin, as the others have found during previous musical misadventures. Initial attempts to sound like at the drive-in are abandoned when brian's afro fails to live up to it's initial promise while darragh's afro lives up to everyones expectations and fails spectacularly. By the beginning of 2006 they are bashing out some more promising songs and seem to be getting over a worrying bout of "bloc partyishness". Just as they are beginning to hit their stride exams strike. They return triumphantly and spend the hot months of june and july rocking various rehearsal roooms, living rooms, and bedrooms around dublin. They write some songs they are proud of and find that they are beginning to sound like themselves . They continue to write more songs than they have time to work out or play at a gig. In the autumn one such gig presents itself and they find they must decided on a name.
