Netanyahu calls for zero tolerance against desecration

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu called on law enforcement to exert the full weight of the law against perpetrators after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a synagogue in Jaffa in response to graffiti sprayed on Muslim and Christian tombstones in Jaffa. Speaking at Sunday's cabinet meeting Netanyahu said Israel will not tolerate vandalism especially when they are directed at holy sites. "The State of Israel is tolerant toward religious sites, and is driven by the will to proceed peacefully. Israel will show zero tolerance towards those who oppose this way of life," Netanyahu said. The prime minister's statements came a day after graffiti saying "Death to Arabs," and "Price tag" was sprayed on tombstones. Shortly after the 25 hours Yom Kippur fast ended, Arab and Jewish residents of Jaffa protested over the desecration. During the protest a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the synagogue. No one was injured and no damage reported. Israel Police chief Yohanan Danino said the police will do everything in its power to bring the perpetrators to justice.
