Description

Demonstrators set fire to the homes of Nepal's President Ram Chandra Poudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The country witnessed large-scale protests led by Gen Z after the government banned 26 social media platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube. The ban was later revoked following violent clashes that left at least 19 people dead, with the movement growing beyond apps, reflecting wider frustration over corruption, unemployment and restrictions on expression.

Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport was closed and all flights were cancelled as violence escalated.
