Neil Patrick Harris gets Hollywood star

Longtime television actor Neil Patrick Harris received the 2,448th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday (September 15), honoring him for his work in television, film, and theater.
Harris first became widely known for his starring role in the 1989-93 television program "Doogie Howser, M.D.," in which he played a teenage wunderkind doctor.
He has received four Emmy nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for his portrayal of the womanizing Barney Stinson on "How I Met Your Mother." Harris won Emmy awards last year for a guest-starring role on "Glee'' and as the host of the Tony Awards.
At the ceremony, the 38-year-old recalled his first visit to Hollywood as a teenager with his mother, walking down star-lined Hollywood Boulevard.

"I remember looking down at all those stars, and seeing names like Mitchell Leisen, and Spring Byington, and Milton Sills, and thinking, maybe, some day, in a hundred years, people will see my name, and say 'who the hell was that person?'"
On Broadway, Harris has had lead roles in the revival of "Cabaret," "Proof" and "Assassins."
"How I Met Your Mother" begins its seventh season on CBS on September 19th.
