Although physically limited in 1992 thanks to his recurring problems with his ankle, he did his best for the national team and showed in some phases of the match his skills. He was directly and indirectly involved in all goals.

The cartilage in his ankle was disappeared; he had no pace and mobility at this phase of his career.

His career ended within a year. The 1993 Champions League final was his last appearance as professional player. His last national team appearance was on 14 October 1992 against Poland.
