Movie studios may win with electronic distribution

The film business hasn't been this bad since the 1950s, when a war-weary nation plunked itself in front of the boob tube rather than round up the family for outings to the silver screen, says Richard Morgan, The Deal's media and entertainment reporter. These days, home video sales are down, and only high-priced tickets to 3-D flicks are propping up the industry. But technological change has a way of shifting fortunes.
